May 9, 2004, the last day of the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at Portland's Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
A beautiful evening. A delightful evening. A delicious gorgeous glorious evening. Perfect! 6 PM, just the time for an after dinner meander.
Jer and I walked down to the east side of the Willamette River, peered through the willow trees to the west bank, and trundled across the Hawthorne Bridge to join the festivities.
Our version of joining Portland's many festivals is to stroll down the Tom McCall riverside walk, gazing from outside the fence to the scene inside, and then to return via Naito Parkway, the street which sits between the park and the center city. We had lots of strolling company -- the air was balmy, the westering sun glowing, the scene full and lively.
Here's a bit of a photo narrative of one Portland festival evening.
